Opportunities to Attend Conferences for Free or at a Discount

GitNation organizes meaningful and entertaining JavaScript conferences, both remote and in-person, connecting talented engineers, researchers, and core teams of important libraries and technologies.

We believe everyone should have the chance to connect, learn, and grow in the tech world. Here’s how you can join us for free or at a discount.

React Summit 2024

Badges & referral campaign (remote participation)

With announcement of the conference date we also launch our digital badges via which all our subscribers have an opportunity to register for free and to get watch-only access to the stream.

Who Can Apply:

Everyone.

Application Steps:

  1. Subscribe to updates: ensure you receive our email announcements – it can be done through the website. In one of the emails you’ll get digital badge to register with:
    1. Register with digital badge
    2. Alternatively, visit the conference website, find the section with digital badge and register through this badge (example)
  2. Invite friends: encourage 3+ friends to register using your badge to upgrade it to full remote access. In case you successfully invite 3+ friends, you’ll get an automatic email notification that your ticket is upgraded

What’s Included:

  • Watch-only access to 50% of the remote conference stream (initially)
  • Full remote access to all conference content, including talks, Q&As, remote free workshops, discussion rooms (after inviting 3+ friends)

Scholarships (remote or in-person participation)

Scholarships include a free conference pass that will be awarded after the successful application process* and selection by our committee. The ticket provides access to in-person and/or remote-only activities associated with the event – talks, short workshops, discussions, and more.

Who Can Apply:

Individuals from underrepresented groups in tech, including women, LGBT+ community members, people of color, those with disabilities, and economically disadvantaged individuals.

Application Steps:

  1. Visit the conference website
  2. Locate the ‘Giving Back to Community’ section
  3. Verify that the application period is open
  4. Complete and submit the application form
  5. Await an email response within 1-2 weeks after the application deadline

What’s Included:

  • A free conference pass (remote or in-person)**
  • Access to all conference activities, including in-person and/or remote sessions

* Please be aware that scholarship application does not guarantee you a ticket, all applications are subject to the selection process.
All applications will be checked subject to eligibility.

** Scholarships cover the conference pass only; travel and accommodation expenses are not included in case you get an in-person ticket.

Community tickets (remote or in-person participation)

If you’re a JS meetup organizer we’ll be happy to offer you one more option on how to get free tickets for our conferences.

Who Can Apply:

JS meetup organizers and community leaders.

Application Steps:

  1. Email us at [email protected] with details about your meetup group
  2. Get reply from the community manager and discuss the conditions of collaboration (newsletter to your audience, announcements on meetups, etc)

What’s Included:

  • Two free tickets per event for hybrid or remote participation
  • Opportunities for a few members of your organizing team to attend for free

Volunteering (in-person participation)

To combine the opportunity to listen to talks, to talk to great community members with a chance to try yourself as an organizer simply apply for volunteering. As a crew member, you will get to attend the conference sessions and social events free of charge (outside of your assigned tasks). All we need from you is your time and genuine interest!

Who Can Apply:

Anyone interested in contributing to the conference and gaining free access to sessions.

Application Steps:

  1. Fill out our quick volunteer application form
  2. An event manager from the GitNation team will contact you 1-1,5 months before the conference in case there are spots in the volunteers team

What’s Included:

  • Free access to all conference sessions and social events (outside of assigned tasks)
  • Experience working behind the scenes at the event

Typical Volunteer Tasks:

  • Helping with build up: sorting our badges, gathering goodie bags, placing signs and banners around the venue, etc. (usually the day before the conference)
  • Managing registration and swag desks
  • Moderation of discussions & QnAs with speakers
  • Assisting with in-person workshops

Students discounts (in-person participation)

If you’re a student and for some reason none of the options above works for you, you can always apply for a student discount and to attend conference in-person – it varies from 30 to 50% of regular and late bird prices.

Who Can Apply:

Current students. Make sure your student ID is valid during the conference dates as well.

Application Steps:

  1. Visit conference website
  2. From the tickets section go to /checkout page where you can find all the available tickets (just click ‘Order now’ button under any ticket)
  3. If Student tickets are still on sale proceed with the purchase

Note, the number of student tickets is always limited so better not to postpone the purchase!

  • Hybrid acces to conference content and activities*

* We do not provide student discounts for remote participation in conferences.
